wknd recap

After 2 horrible days of work where the stress reading was off the scale the weekend finally came.

Friday night my family was in town overnight, so we I went and hung out with them... mostly Charlie and Joe. Joe and I picked Charlie up from the Amtrak station (took a bit of a detour on the way- not by choice) and headed back to my apt. When we told stories of the past, laughed and then settled in to watch Carlos Mencia DVD, hilarious!

Sat. Lori and I did a ladies day. It started with coffee and smokes, then off to get pedicures at the salon, then laundry at moms- where Lori napped, I took a shower and we just chilled, talked and watched TV. Did a brief shopping stint for clothes and then our weekly trip to Hudson, WI for smokes- being MN raised the taxes so flippin much its cheaper to burn the gas and drive 30 miles than to buy them here... plus its a nice mini roadtrip filled with our own renditions of songs on the radio. That night Lori, Justin, Jericho and I went bowling. I have to say, I'm pretty good (thanks to summer bowling lessons through community ed as a kid). I won 3 out of the 4 games we played.

Sun. Woke up at 10a, Jericho went for a bike ride and I went back to bed after he left. This afternoon we went to Como Zoo, which was fun-sad... but fun none the least. Como Zoo isn't the nicest zoo, so I've heard... but I really don't have anything to compare it with (I've never been to the MN Zoo). I love watching the polar bears- they are probably my favorite animal there. Leaving the zoo I kept thinking about all the horrid things that I hear about the conditions there in comparison to other zoo's. Hopefully that will change. Dinner came and went, and after I went biking about 4 miles which isn't bad considering I haven't been on my bike in over a yr. I packed it up in my car (after some struggling with getting it in the car) and brought it back to the apt. so it's accessible.

well that's about it.... I'm off to bed- hoping for a long night before Mon. morning rolls in.

Ode to the tenants of "apartment 106"

hehe... this goes out to deuce and joe.

oh, tenants of 106 you act like fools, but i cannot picture life without you. so many stories to hard to pick one... this picture will do for the imaginations of some.

can't wait till the next time we meet again, for the uncontrolable laughter never ends!

Hot dogs, a new kitten and cockroaches

I went to Moorehead this past weekend to visit India and the fam. I have always enjoyed roadtrips, long drives where my mind can wander aimlessly- questioning things that I usually would never give thought to... (ex. How many wood ticks I would get if I were to pull over on the hwy. and get out and walk in the ditch for a minute or so? How far can I really shove my finger up my nose? Or, I run tests on myself- like how many different noises can I make, or how small can I make the crack in my window and still be able to spit sunflower seeds out it? Amazingly enough I've got pretty good aim despite my klutziness.) Back to my travels of the wknd... We went to a parade on Sat. Morning- the Dilworth Loco Daze Parade. Mind you, I not a big parade person in general... but it was more for the kids, at least that's what we say... but in the end we are the ones "ohhh and ahhhing." I have never seen so much candy thrown at a parade before, it was insane... a sneak preview to Halloween. The best part of the parade I think, was when the grocery store Cash Wise came through- they were handing out hot dogs! I'd never been at a parade where they hand out actual food. Hot dogs (the good kind, not the cheap kind) in a bun, warm and wrapped in a paper bag (like the ones at a baseball game). I sat there on the curb in disbelief that I had just been handed a hot dog, and in answer to the question your wondering- heck yes, I ate the hot dog and it was good. Hmmm... Parade hot dogs.

I wanted to post pics of the newest family member Shayori, but the internet decided to fight with me last night and the internet or lack of a connection, won... so I have no pics at this moment. Shayori is Jericho's 12 wk. old kitten. She is beautiful (grey with tabby stripes with some tan/orange markings) and quite the energy packed kitten, she fits right into the family. Gyp is doing extremely well adjusting to having a kitten, and I feel better knowing she has a buddy to play with while no one is home. They took to each other quite quickly, although it wasn't too hard being Gyp just wants to be friends with everyone regardless the species, she's an affection slut. Shayori follows Gyp pretty much everywhere and if its not Shayori following Gyp it's the other way around. I'm happy, but I'd like to have my pillow back at night- its now become the cats bed regardless if I'm using it or not... its pretty comical.

Discovery, ugh. I came into work this morning to my co-worker telling me to come look at this bug she trapped under a cup that was trying to crawl across her desk. I went over to look, thinking it was a millipede or something ordinary you find anywhere... this thing was ugly and huge and I'd never seen anything like it before. Needless to say we hopped on Google immediately and looked up cockroaches (we'd had suspicion of cockroaches with some other things going on here at the office- another story for another time) and low and behold there is a picture of the "ugly bug" she trapped under the cup, it's a cockroach- nice! So the topic of the office is cockroaches and their domain. I really need a new job.
